Hello again!

Post by AzaleaMoon on Sat Jun 04, 2016 12:13 am

Hi everyone, I've been absent for a while due to moving house. Big move, from Sydney to Nowra (south coast of Australia for those who don't know).
So far it has been a bit of a nightmare; the bank stuffed up the settlement so we didn't officially own the house until about 4 days after moving in (during those 4 days we reached an agreement with the previous owners that we could rent it from them until the settlement was sorted), and then there was a problem with the internet (internet works differently here, being a rural area; we have to wait until a connection becomes available, eg if someone else in the area cancels theirs). We have been told that the best we can hope for in terms of connecting to the internet is 3 months, unless we look for another provider which I think is what we're looking at now.

So, just wanted to let you all know that my presence on the forum is going to be limited but I haven't decided to leave. I'm still very much interested in being part of this community Smile Even though I don't have internet at home, the local shopping centre has free Wifi Very Happy

On another note, I think Loki is hiding our stuff. Things have gone missing in the move that we know we packed (we don't believe the things have been stolen as they're not valuable).

Wow! Lots of people moving lately! But...
Pay them for four days rent on the house you're buying from them?
Wow. Their generosity underwhelms.
My ex has been having landlord problems of his own. A two bay garage with a room above it, electricity included. Even though he paid rent two weeks early, she threatened to have the power shut off by the day if he didn't pay her and extra 50 dollars. :-aP~~~

Yeah luckily that was sorted quickly and its ours now. Don't think we even had to pay anything.

We now have temporary internet, some kind of USB device, but its very limited so we can't be on for hours at a time. Still waiting on a permanent solution.

What the heck did she want the extra $50 for? Crazy lady.

Most of the garages she rents out are double bay garages incl. Electricity. She charges 200. and most tenants are only weekenders tinkering in their man caves drinking beer and bein' guys. My ex and son pay 250 because they have a large one room studio above and live their. I guess they use more electricity. But considering she's getting about 600.00 total from the other three renters who are barely around to use electricity she could be more reasonable. I mean come on, 300 for a garage? Power, yes, but no sewer or water. They live very primitively there trying to save money. My son is living off savings now so he has time and energy to work on the bikes and not work 40-50 hours at a convenience store where he'd be too tired to spend serious time restoring the bike. The idea was to use money from the first sale to rent a real place. My ex is a total Rembrandt at scouring Craigslist for classic bikes for a few hundred dollars, fixing them and selling them. The one they're detailing now will fetch between 3500.00 and 5000.00 when it's done.

But the landlady and her husband are regular casino visitors if you get my drift. She's just a greedy, extortionist twat waffle. Laughing
