preserved cave lion cubs
This is sad, but, really interesting as well for science and historical purposes.

It is ... and I wouldn't typically go plastering dead animal photos.
I am quite fascinated by cave lions, even more than their more famous relative the sabertooth. I alway remember the part in "
Clan of the Cave Bear"
where Ayla was attacked by a lion as a child.

Oh, I loved that movie! I haven't seen it in ages!
Maybe something about cave lions with you... A totem? A past life experience?

That's what I've wondered. For some reason my memory of that movie has me thinking there was a clan of the cave lion, but I looked it up and didn't see any reference in the book descriptions or movie. I think they thought she was special because she survived the attack? I can't remember. Been ages since I saw it too.
I had even asked Seb if there was a secret society among the Cat tribe associated with the cave lion, but he said no. Of course I can't take anything seriously about the Eshnahai now. But I wonder about an ancestral memory or something.

As well as I recall, she survived the attack, but it was thought that she'd never have children. Something about the magick or energy from the lion was too strong to allow her to carry babies? But she did anyways.

I think there's actually a final book released for that series.

Yeah I browsed on wiki for info about the rest of the books. In the second, Ayla raises a cave lion cub.
