Visit by an unknown deity/spirit

Post by Darkamber on Sat Aug 29, 2015 2:43 am

Just now I was visited by a deity or a spirit.
I suddenly smelled the sickly-sweet smell of rotting organic matter, and then the lights blinked.
I sometimes sense presences as smells/scents.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

My first thought was Hel, but I don't know. She's never appeared as half-rotted in dreams or visions, but half mummified by frost.

I've had strange experiences that involve my sense of smell, often disturbing odors that can't be compared to anything I know.

Have you ever experienced smell as thought? It's like something has a smell but you smell it in the middle of your head and has little to nothing to do with inhaling or my nose.

I have smelled the distinct odor of color. Like dark electric blue has its own unique odor. Sounds retarded, I know.

I have quite good nose, often noticed (real) stuff, others didn't, even from far away.
And yes, more than once I got a whiff when Loki was around. He confirmed it later, so I learned the variety, or the scale.
First time I was spooked and searched the house from top to bottom until I realized the smell followed me and it was not I.....
On the street it may come from so many sources I take the intuition and my guts as the guide.
The smell could be someone, but if you cannot put a finger on who I would be suspicious and extra questioning why that whoever it is hides.

I've experienced some strange odors, too. Recently, I keep smelling kerosene. We don't have any in our house. Normally, my sense of smell is pretty acute, too.

Why can't weird, phantom smells be cinnamon rolls or jasmine or roses? Instead it's always rotten stuff, kerosene and other unsavory crap :-P

I know, right? If You're going to come stink up the place, at least stink like something pleasant! Some deities prefer that you bathe before rituals and such. Well, take a dang bath before You visit me, too! XD

Well, Loki came to me with cinnamon and sage, and sage totally spooked me. I was worry it was Odin... but no, it was always Loki. He also used a perfume , something like a clean shave.

I've smelled Loki's presence. He smells like bonfire smoke, and sometimes a very nice after shave.

In the first flat I lived in alone when I was in my 20s, I used to smell a Presence that smelled like honey. I'm wondering if that was Freyr.

Is Sage a plant connected to Odin?

The presence that I felt when I smelled the stench of rotting garbage made me feel uneasy. The stench felt invasive.
I don't know who it was.

I don't think so, it just came to my head then, that sage is Odin, and I was wrong. Later I found someone on Etsy (Beth? I'm not sure now) used sage for Loki's incense or oil, I also forgot which. Never-mind my own UPG, I still find sage and Loki connection not typical.

I don't know who it was.
I wonder if it's a presence or just "
something in the air,"
like a general change in Earth's energies or something. Maybe like a buildup of astral decomposition. I don't know. I'm kinda just shooting in the dark here.

I would think that sage would be connected to the shaman-type deities. Which would include Odin. And Cernunnos. Among others.
