I'll let you know when I've gotten the envelopes and can get to the library to print out a shipping label.

That's fine. You don't have to print a shipping label unless you want. You could print it on the envelope if you want, with an ink pen or black permanent marker

No, I think for flat rate (maybe for all priority mail?) you NEED to have a USPS shipping label, it's proof (to USPS) that you paid for the flat-rate/priority postage. I'm not certain they'll even take it without a label (I'd have to check, though). Plus, there'll be tracking info on it, as well.

(and I did the math wrong the first time, it'd actually be $2.85 each)

Beth and Seb seem to mail in random bags and boxes. I would've preferred getting stuff from Beth in a box, but everything has arrived in good shape.
I prefer flat-rate myself because it's trackable and you can stuff as much as you want in the box - "
if it fits, it ships."
And the boxes are free. I do wish they did have some smaller sizes and more padded options though.
Also with flat rate you already know the postage rates and can charge people pretty much exactly what it costs. I get a little uneasy about postal charges on Etsy and I don't like the thought of making "
profit"
on postage.

Even if you write out your own label and take it to the Post office, if it hasn't been paid for and printed online then you'll be paying there and they will print you one to attach which has the tracking scan thingy on it. Well that's for Priority Mail. If you're just sending first class, then they print a postage sticker. If that makes sense. If you want tracking for that then you have to get the delivery confirmation sticker. So most of the time Priority Mail is just simpler but I can see how small items could ship for less as first class.
My local post office has a kiosk for getting stamps and Priority Mail labels and stuff for after hours/avoiding the line. So if you can't print at home I guess you just enter it all there and pay with a credit/debit card and it will print out the stickers. Otherwise the people running the registers can print it for you. Really though you can just ask them what's best then you'll get the hang of a system.
Consider getting some of those little cardboard jewelry boxes with the cotton padding in it (from a craft store or from Fire Mountain) if you feel like your shipping package doesn't have enough protection.

I remember when stamps.com cost fifteen bucks a month just to be able to print shipping labels and pay for postage. If you got the 15 bucks a month package you got a free postage scale if you paid for one month after the free trial.

You don't have to pay to print labels anymore?

I bought some padded envelopes from the dollar store. But the woven bracelets fit nicely into a note card and it's only a regular stamp for those. If you do the labels online, you can get a tracking number.

Yeah, I pretty much HAVE to do labels online since, as stated before, I can't get to the post office.

Do you live way out in the country? It sucks to live 5 of 10 miles from everything and have no car. I've been there before!

Yeah, I don't have a car right now, either. I'm sharing with my husband, and it sucks. :/

We have no public transportation where I live. I'm in an unincorporated area of the county. It's either walk or call for a cab. My car is parked in the garage, but I can't drive it. So I have to share. And the MS is at work from 7:30am until almost 7pm every week day. Driving him to work so I can have the car is a royal PITA. It's about a 30-45 minute drive one way, and worse during rush hour. Really not worth the aggro. Hopefully my problem will be resolved this week.

I actually live in the suburbs, but the bus stop I use to get downtown is over a half-mile away, and that bus doesn't go near the post office. There's another bus stop if you walk (again, about a half-mile) in the opposite direction from the first one, but the road to it is curvy and downhill and there are NO streetlights down that way for some inexplicable reason (I had to walk up that way once coming back at night--I'd taken a different bus than I usually do and had thought it stopped at a different place--and I could not see a thing), so I don't like walking down there, and personally I consider it a waste of a bus ticket to just go 3 miles to the post office and come back, especially since I get the $5 all-day tickets (in a little booklet thingy), and there's nothing else interesting to do down there to justify spending $5 for a 10-minute ride.

I think this is the thread we were discussing too-small bead holes ... wasn't sure whether it warranted starting a new topic or not.
Anyway, I picked up a bead reamer set from Michaels for about $5-6, so that might be something to consider to see if you can still utilize what you have. I haven't tried it yet but they basically look like small files on the end that you would just stick in the hole to try to enlarge it ... that sounds dirty but I can't think of how else to describe it, lol.

Yes, Michaels had a single tool or a set, and the set was a better deal.
They're called bead reamers. They're small and needle-like with different shaped file tips.

The new wordpress follow/unfollow button in the bottom right corner is ridiculous, I almost hit it numerous times when stretching the page...)

I've noticed that Wordpress also has a habit of randomly unfollowing blogs. I hate it when it does that. :/

I unfollowed everyone except the people here at the forum. At least for awhile. After enough time it all begins to soundlike just noisy people quacking into the void.

My dad had this saying: Opinions are like assholes: everyone has one and they all stink. Laughing
