Introduction

Hello!

My name is Heathir and I have identified myself as a Lokean for almost 4 years now, but I think that Loki has been in my life for a lot longer -- perhaps since childhood.

I have considered myself as a practicing Pagan for almost 20 years, and for the first 15 of that, I felt drawn to the Morrigan, and thought that She was my patron goddess. I practiced a very Celtic-flavored Paganism, and all in all, I was pretty satisfied with that.
Then, while doing research on a book about the Morrigan and Celtic culture in 2011, I kept finding articles from the early 19th century-written in German - making references and comparisons between Valkyries and the Morrigan. So I tried learning better German so I could understand the articles, and next thing you know...I was suddenly surrounded by more references to Norse culture as it relates to Celtic culture, and it baffled me. I really felt as if I was *meant* to be a Celtic-flavored Pagan, who worshipped the Morrigan.

In 2011, I attended a ritual for a non-Norse God, and ended up having a vision of three Gods amidst a murder of crows. I thought for certain that this was Her.
But oddly enough, no matter what I did for Her, things still didn't feel right. As well, I was getting tired of feeling hounded by All Things Norse, so I sought a divination...

And was told that it was definitely NOT the Morrigan.

Who was it?

It was Freyja.

Who brought Loki along. Sometimes Odin shows up, too.

And I’ve been working with Them ever since.

Welcome!

That sounds really cool. I'd bet many of us come in from a Celtic/Wiccan-like perspective at first, as it seems the Norse side isn't represented as much, well, until now I guess, with the popularity of the "
Vikings"
show and the Marvel movies and all.
American holidays show a definite Romano-Celt, Irish/Scottish flavor and only certain areas seem to get the Germanic aspects. Heck we don't even get taught where the names of the week come from!

So do you think you were/are experiencing the darker side of Freyja, as battle-maiden and sorceress? I've been trying to connect with Her myself, mainly in terms of Her cats and Her Vanic connection, but it is slow going. Loki gets the majority of my attention. ;
