Technically Cheating, I Suppose...

Post by Just.Christine on Sat Jul 18, 2015 9:23 am

Funny name for a poem, no?Hehehe. Not a poem. Sort of cheating a bit here, I reckon but oh well.
Since I privately host my blog, I don't have the advantage of the handy "
Foia llow"
button on my site. Instead, people can subscribe for notification's via email.
I'll probably end up moving the damn thing to a WP.com site, which doesn't thrill me for vaious reasons but I would like to increase my readership which seems easier for people who have that follow button and show up on people's blogrolls.
Consistent and frequent submissions would help, of course, but I have no idea what to do when I have nothing to say. I can't pull inspiration out of my ass and Odinwife or not, I don't have Mead of Poetry on tap. I get dribs and drabs. It's often pretty damn good when I get a good sized swig but that's not with enough reliability to post every day or even every week. I hate making posts that serve as no more than fillers to take up empty space because it's supposed to be a devotional blog for my Darlin.

At any rate, you can subscribe via email if you want to recieve notifications when I make new posts and when you comment, you can tick the box to recive emails when someone comments on the thread or your comment.

Right before I moved, I posted part of the first chapter of a story I'm working on with the working title, A View With Some Room. I made an oath to Odin several months back to be silent about the personal details of our relationship. I can still talk about things on a case by case basis after inquiring of Him and thoughtful consideration but he told me if I had such an itch to discuss more personal things that I could find another Odinwife to be a mentor to me and/or share in the form of fiction and poetry. This is His humorous stipulation that's supposed to goad me into writing more I suppose. He seemed to be tickled with Himself when he said it. Rolling Eyes Razz
No worries: This isn't going to be a thinly disguised Odin x Poppy porno with fan fiction flavor. I will feature some romance but it will be implied. A flirtation that leads to a kiss.....fadescene...morning after. The story is supposed to be about how I, as the female character, find myself in the strange state of being called, Already Dead. Not Undead, but rather, as He describes it, "
The Ambulatory Dead"
He comes to lead me to Hel and He takes me on the Long Road. From where "
Poppy"
first finds herself, Hel can be seen on the horizon, just a little was beyond a river that could be easily crossed. Instead, He opts to take me on a looooooonnnnnng, round about, scenic route. There will be adventures, romance, marital squabbles I'm sure, running into other gods like Loki of course.
Well, that's the plan at any rate.
I have another page of very rough draft I'm cleaning up this weekend and posting. I'm entering chapter 1 in Beth's Odin devotional contest. If it gets picked, perhaps a sample chapter in an anthology will give me the push I need to commit to the rest of it.
Anyhow, some first draft readers and constrictive crit. would be nice [hint hint >
.>
] Plus, my ex wouldn't want to read this stuff and I'd feel awkward with him reading it as well. Plus my son has never shown much interest in reading any of my writings and poems. He'll read stuff once in a while but he never says anything about it afterwards. He read something once while I watched and then went about his business without even looking at me. I know it's pressure when someone's shoulder reading but I have to really push [and guilt!] to get my son to read anything I write. He says he always feels under pressure to say something and he doesn't know what to say so he avoids it. Plus he just has this aversion to doing things asked of him simply because it's asked of him. There's a name for it actually. An actual diagnosis. Apparently everybody is mentally these days. Rolling Eyes
So, yes. Some first draft readers and constructive crits would be appreciated to help me before final submission. It would be a dream come true if I got it published in Beth's book and buyers wrote her and asked, "
hey, how do I get the rest of this story?"

As much as I would love to read this - A View with Some Room - I cannot seem to find it through the posted url.

Is it still available to read?

Well, what little I've written. I moved my blog, you can reach it from the link in my signature.
But here's a link to the first two chapters.

Thank you! If only my heart were back in it again.
