Lokakisa wrote:I probably shouldn't have, but I wrote a response to that animal sacrifice post on what's-her-face's blog. We'll see if she moderates it or not. I basically called her out for being rude and immature to her readers who had come there trying to learn something. Honestly I'm not going to waste my time in checking back.

I've been wondering whether Rollo on "
Vikings"
is a Berserker. They haven't really elaborated on it much, but the attack on Paris really seemed to point at that.

Also, as to the OP, I totally agree that flashing horrific pictures is uncool, as that has been sort of conditioned out of us (having sickness and death and violence separated and shielded from us most of the time) and can be too upsetting. I'm glad I'm not a Facenerd. But PETA is bad about it too.

I checked back out of curiosity (and because I was hoping to see what you'd actually written), and apparently she didn't approve it. She did post a rather passive-aggressive comment about how it's "
not [her] job to educate people who have no respect"
for her tradition, and how she will "
not approve specious comments designed ... to show disrespect"
. I don't know if there was more than one comment like that that she didn't approve, but it was implied that there was. She also posted another comment which was basically "
don't whine to me about how you won't worship/honor the gods if they want sacrifice and how you're 'so much more evolved'"
. :/

I did entertain the thought at one time of following her blog, but now I'm glad I never did.

In addition to Kisa's comment, I know of 2 other people whose comments didn't get approved. And they asked thought-provoking questions and made some great points, just like Kisa did.
I think this little tirade of hers (I'd go so so far as to call it a tantrum) isn't going to win her any respect. I mean, sure the folks who agree with her are still going to think she farts glitter and roses, but they seem to be just as closed-minded as she is. I think it's really sad that we can't share ideas and opinions respectfully without furthering the rift in the community. Sad

Nightcrawler is my favorite character. Next to Loki, of course. ^^ Now I can totally envision Real!Loki doing the *bamf* for the lulz. Instead of sulfur, it'll smell like cinnamon!

I debated whether to copy my response, knowing she probably wouldn't approve it. I did it after those comments you mentioned, Corannhena, so those weren't directed to me.
I basically said her tone was unprofessional and immature, that I was trying to learn something despite being anti-cruelty and vegetarian myself, and I felt offended by all the "
fuck you's"
thrown at the audience that her readers didn't deserve. I called her post a "
teenage-emo rant"
and that the whole shebang with the snotty comments looked like a "
lame rap battle with a lot of posturing and flailing."
I said I was disappointed as someone fairly new to Nordic stuff, that I would've wanted to learn from her, but instead I was turned off and turned away from the issue she was trying to represent. I ended it by saying that I was disappointed at a lost opportunity for meaningful dialog on an important issue due to her own vitriol (after she accused others of the same) and I said it was rude and disrespectful to her readers to turn them away "
to go bug other religion"
and write her post as if she was expecting an attack. Oh and I pointed out her fallacy in brushing off human sacrifice (that she had mentioned in a response, I think it was to Poppy).

I really, REALLY held my tongue from asking if I could throw her in a bog as a sacrifice to Nerthus because She demands it. LOLOL But I kept my cool and though it sounded harsh, I was polite and mature as possible, even offering my thoughts on points I agreed with. (a spoonful of sugar for the bitter medicine)

I totally agree journey, that this was nothing more than the tantrum of a five-year-old. I said some other stuff on your blog and DarkAmber's too I think, then decided to let it go when I wrote my own blog post about the power in words.

I just gotta' add this in here: I love Nightcrawler from the comics, or his other name, to Wolverine, "
Elf."
I still remember the strip where Nightcrawler asked Wolverine over why he kept calling him Elf? Wolverine told him, it's not the teleportation, the skin, the figure-it was Nightcrawler's ears, they are pointy and he acts "
Elfish"
to Wolverine, so he calls him, Elf. Lol
I think my favorite and idol has always been either Storm or The Scarlett Witch;
I think it's because the Scarlett Witch ran away from all existence and life on Earth with a highly unique cyborg or something like that, and when you find the Scarlett Witch later in comics, she was happily romancing with the cyborg, who doesn't mind, haha, she couldn't stand any human, even mutant, lol. Idols, much love. ^.^

Throw her in a bog as a sacrifice to Nerthus... I love it! (Does Nerthus appreciate junk food, though?) Laughing

Hi,

I've actually got another person wanting to talk about bersarkrgangr after reading my paper tonight. Maybe I should make a place to discuss bersarkrgangr. The other person and I are on fb. Let's try to connect there and we can all talk about it.

This is my fb profile:

https://www.facebook.com/erin.lale

If there are more than a couple of people interested in this topic, I could create a small private fb group for it. (The guy
who asked to chat with me about it tonight I don't think is on this forum, just fb.) If everyone would rather make a place to discuss it over here, I'll see about inviting him to this forum and make a thread for it.

What does everyone think, fb or here?

OK, I am going to go ahead and create a small private fb group for that purpose. I actually used to have a small group for that, on yahoo groups, and before that, on msn groups. and before that, a print magazine. Haha, yeah, I know, I'm like old. Anyway if you're not already my fb friend, friend me. Whoever wants to be in the bersarkrgangr group, message me either here or on fb so I know what your fb name is and I'll add you. Since I'm sure at some point there will be people interested in bersarkrgangr who are really only interested in Odin and not Loki, it makes sense to have it off this forum.
