A major nudge from you know who

Post by njm on Thu Mar 19, 2015 5:24 am

Today was a strange day. In truth, with my husband's work shifts etc. I've had to rush my nightly offerings to Loki this past week, and a couple of days I missed completely. Apparently he didn't like that as today he gave me a major nudge.
I was minding my own business, working, and suddenly I felt this overwhelming need to worship Loki. Not just a thought that I'd speak to him tonight, but a full-on NEED that ran through my whole body. Well, I took the hint and promised him a more focused offering tonight, and it seemed to do the trick as the feeling went away. So now that hubby has gone for a walk, I'm off to make good on my promise....

I learned-manage to do the drink-coffee-candle with my DH around. He doesn't ask any more. I don't speak loud though.
Only when a problem arise, any problem, he gets annoyed saying: "
Everything in this house is about Loki, I live here too!"
.
Or, when I want to say something he mocks me saying: "
Let me guess, is it about Loki? "

I think Loki likes it that way.

I do sometimes do my offerings with hubby there, and like you, drop from normal speech to a whisper, but while hubby is not against my new religious beliefs per se, he doesn't really understand them (he's essentially an atheist as I was until recently) and so I never feel I can talk as freely with him there. But last night he was out so I spent a while talking to Loki, which was nice. He's out on Sat night too,and I have promised Loki some mead then.

I gotta say, I don't envy you guys the mortal spouse problems. When I tried Wicca in the past my ex tolerated my reading share our but when I did a ritual out front, he came and yanked me out of my circle. It didn't take much persecution like this to make me just give up.

Christine, that sucks. Mine, at least, is tolerant of my "
witchy stuff."
He pokes fun of it, but doesn't discourage it. I won't do it if he's around. I wait until no one's home.

Yeah, that's awful. Mine also, luckily, views it with more of a sense of humour, which while not perfect, is okay. Not sure how he'd feel about the blood for that candle charging, but what he doesn't know...

Yeah I'd never mention blood. Even though he's my ex and we live several states away, he doesn't know about my taking up heathenism. And to make matters worse, he pores through history books and happened to make the connection between elitest European families and Odin. I guess I can partly blame myself because I mentioned historical stuff I'd been reading during my heathen studies and he followed it up. I just wanted something in common to talk about! By the time he finds out he'll think I'm doing it just to flout it in his face. Rolling Eyes
